Metal Urges Fine Jewellery and Diamonds was originally founded by master jeweller Chris Hood with a vision to bring unparalleled bespoke craftsmanship to Hobart, Tasmania. Today, that foundational legacy is carried forward by owners Jeffrey and Natalia, who have evolved that dream into a modern centre of jewellery excellence.

Our vision is simple: to create heirloom-quality, custom jewellery that rivals the world’s finest luxury houses, right here in Tasmania. We believe the journey of creating a custom piece should be an inspiring, collaborative experience from the very first sketch to the final reveal. By fusing time-honoured, old-world handcrafting techniques with cutting-edge design technology, we turn our clients' unique ideas into a breathtaking reality.

Now at the helm, Jeffrey and Natalia combine decades of experience working alongside Australia’s top luxury jewellery brands. At the bench since 1998, Jeff was one of the nation’s pioneering jewellery CAD (Computer-Aided Design) specialists, while Natalia brings deep industry expertise in curation and process management.

Together, they lead an in-house team of skilled craftspeople, gemmologists, and designers. Because we believe in total quality control, our Hobart-based team collaborates under one roof, meticulously guiding every piece of custom jewellery from initial sketch to the final, brilliant polish.
