At Metal Urges we love working with natural and untreated blue sapphire. It is also one of our areas of expertise. This rare and valuable gem is perfect for engagement, eternity, wedding or dress rings, pendants or earrings.
Our Sapphire Legacy
Metal Urges founder Chris Hood personally sources and selects every blue sapphire in our extensive collection. Chris travels far and wide to ethically source these beautiful blue sapphires from their countries of origin. This upholds our mission to leave mining communities and communities relying on their trade better off than we originally found them.
To achieve this, Chris openly pays a premium over the local price to support our mining contacts. This also ensures we maintain access to the highest quality blue sapphire being produced.
We are extremely proud of our legacy, financial support and other contributions we’re able to make to many local economies globally.
Sourcing Blue Sapphires
Natural and untreated blue sapphire are becoming a very rare commodity due to high demand and complex geopolitical issues among source countries.
Sapphire deposits situated in areas that are too inaccessible, isolated, politically unstable, or environmentally extreme are not mined. The main mining areas for blue sapphire currently are Sri Lanka, Cambodia, India, Madagascar, Tanzania, Australia, Thailand, the US, and of course Tasmania. Blue sapphires and sapphires of most varieties can often be tested and traced back to their country of origin.
This is called origin determination and Metal Urges proudly provides this service for all clients in relation to their blue sapphire jewellery.
