Romantic decision in a flash
The Mercury ,
Paul Hiscutt wasted no time asking Tania Hart to be his bride.
New Town couple Tania and Paul’s whirlwind romance saw registered nurse Paul pop the question just three months after meeting hairdresser Tania through relatives.
It was at the same spot they met that Paul, 45, spontaneously asked Tania, 43 to sit on his lap as he asked her to marry him.
“I wasn’t planning on asking her to marry me. I didn’t have a ring,” Paul said.
“I thought there was potential and that ‘she’s beautiful but maybe in a year’s time’.
“But that night I looked at her and it was just a matter of the heart and I thought, ‘I must to do this now otherwise she might get away’.
The ring, a bespoke 18-carat Burmese ruby with yellow-gold band, from Metal Urges, here in Hobart, followed not long after.
Tania and Paul married on December 10 last year at St Mary’s Cathedral, where many of Paul’s ancestors have also been married.
Tania wore a Mancini chiffon v-neck gown with a lace bodice and Paul sported a pinstripe Hugo Boss suit from Les Lees, Hobart.
Members of the musical Hiscutt family performed at the ceremony and reception in the couple’s backyard, with many other friends and relatives pitching in for the big day.
The wedding cake was 150 lamingtons made by the Country Women’s Association.
For their honeymoon, the newlyweds spent Christmas in London and saw in the New Year in Paris.
