Alexandrite

Alexandrite is arguably the rarest and most desirable of all non diamond coloured stone. In top quality a natural Alexandrite will be a rich and beautiful blue green colour when viewed in natural sun light. The same stone viewed in fire or incandescent light will show a rich purple red. Named after Russian tsar Alexander II (1818–1881) Alexandrite has always been difficult to source in fine quality due to high demand and extreme rarity. Metal Urges has formed a personal relationship with a small family mining business in Brazil that brings a handful of Alexandrite to market each year—we buy only their best pieces.
